Mission

"We aim to give hope to individuals and families impacted by disabilities through creating awareness and providing opportunities that allow them to experience life to the fullest at home, in the community, in school and in the workplace."

We operate from a perspective of Christian values and ethos, celebrating others and acting out of love. We aim to uncover, develop and support the possibilities that arise from embracing the unique identities of our individuals and families and from recognizing the strength inherent in each of us.

"The Up Ministry of Raising Hope SA and Durbanville Baptist Church is very special to myself and my daughter, who has Down Syndrome.  One of the challenges of having a child with special needs is that it is often very difficult to enable her to have social interaction with other people who have special needs. Up Ministry has enabled her to have social gatherings where she is accepted and understood, a place where she feels welcome and can be part of something bigger. Not only does the Up Ministry provide for my daughter but also for me as a parent with special needs - it's so awesome to have a place where you can share your experiences, concerns and dreams with other parents who may not walk in your exact shame shoes but who follow roughly the same path.  While us parents know our children are being entertained and stimulated we get to share and learn not only from each other but from professionals. My daughter always gets really excited when it's time for an UP DAY as we call them- really these days are "uppers" for all of us, we always leave feeling happy and recharged.  Thank you so much to all those involved in enriching our lives."
